The story of BAM
Logita Pradeep, Founder of BAM
BAM was born because a resident believed that it is important to run some assistance in the heartlands, which will enable residents in need to get access to quick hot meals, especially after a long day of work.
Her name is Logita and after a conversation on Facebook with the Member of Parliament (MP) of her constituency, she successfully introduced this initiative in 2018 at our first coffee shop in Sembawang, and the rest is history.
4 years on, thanks to the enthusiastic responses from our coffee shop owners, stallholders, residents and volunteers, we have expanded to the rest of Sembawang GRC and even to Yishun, with 22 coffee shops, 135 stalls on board, helping over 600 beneficiaries living in the area.
Why BAM
This project encourages residents to 'belanja' fellow residents who are facing difficulties a meal, and is one step closer towards fostering a culture of kampung spirit where residents care and look out for one another.
We see the need of this project even more during this time of the pandemic where more people have been shortlisted to be a beneficiary of this initiative.
Coffee shops are also hard hit by the safe management regulations which resulted in a vast decrease in business. This initiative can also bring our stall owners more sales. At BAM, we believe in constant improvement to our program hence we are looking into partnering with other organisations that could allow us to extend BAM to food delivery drivers during this period.
